Sailing Courses:
Why should I do an accredited sailing course?
Blue Wave Yachting's professional instructors teach to an accredited
YachtPro syllabus and will ensure that you receive all the knowledge
you will need to know. The alternative from some schools is that you
may be learning from people who teach you what they know or think
you should know.
What is the real value of a sailing certification?
YachtPro issue every successful student an ISSA and ASA Certificate
and logbook that are recognized worldwide and are a testament to proven
sailing competency. They are proof of certification, rather than just
a goal of our teaching.
How does accreditation work?
The ISSA (International Sailing Schools Association) has, as part
of its charter, the objective to promote sailing worldwide. Most countries
with a developed sailing community have a national sailing body, which
is accredited with ISSA.
The ASA (American Sailing Association) is accredited with ISSA.
As our clients / students come from all over the world, the ISSA accreditation
is very important as all members of ISSA agree to recognize qualifications
issued by other members.
We are accredited primarily with the ISSA and ASA and so we are able
to issue, along with certifications, the logbooks from these bodies.
Will my logbook issued by YachtPro / Blue Wave be recognized
worldwide?
Yes. Our students are able to convert qualifications passed in Thailand
at YachtPro / Blue Wave to that of their own country for recreational
or pleasure sailing.
What should I look for in a sail training establishment?
Service - good & efficient
Accreditation - internationally recognised
Insurance - make sure the company & vessels have the necessary
coverage
Attentive - ensure the courses you wish to take are appropriate
for your needs
Yachts - make sure the yachts to be used are appropriate
to the level of your training course.
What do I need to bring?
Basically you just need clothes, personal items and spending money.
We provide just about everything else.
Why do course prices vary between sailing schools?
The cost of yachts, services and support infrastructure has a bearing
on sailing course pricing, but the most prevalent reason is the student/instructor
ratio. Needless to say, if the number of students per instructor is
high the costs are spread over more students. However, the students
get far less direct instructional time.
Never been to Pattaya/Thailand:
Will I have problems being understood?

bit of gesturing... great fun! In most places that you go most Thais
speak at least some English.
What are the communications, facilities, roads, etc. like?
Pattaya is a modern city with excellent facilities and infrastructure.
Are there any health issues or medical facilities?
Pattaya has international standard / modern hospitals and clinics.
As long as you drink bottled water and are sensible over what you
eat, everything will be fine.
What's the climate like in Pattaya, Thailand?
Generally warm all year round, especially in the months of March to
May.
About Thailand:
What currency is used in Thailand?
Thai Baht. ATMs, banks & money changing facilities are readily
available.
Do I need a visa to come to Thailand?
Most passports will allow tourists to stay without a visa for up to
30 days, but it is worthwhile checking with the local Thai Embassy
in your country.
What is the time zone in Thailand?
GMT +7 hours.
Sailing In Thailand:
What is the sailing like in Thailand compared with other locations?
The waters in Pattaya and the Gulf of Thailand as a whole are amongst
the best for sailing and sail training in the world. The islands surrounding
